Associated Equipment Co., Ltd„ Black. horse Lane, Walthamstow, London, E.17. Stand No.. 84:

'F PHIS will be a striking exhibit, HIS of the obvious' enthusiasm that has been shown in catering for the better type of motor coach passenger, whilst not neglecting other outlets for A.E.C. productions.

The exhibit will consist of the 29seater A.E.C. limousine coach on a special S type chassis, a 40-passenger S type single-deck bus, a 26-seater standard char-a-banes, and a 4 ton hydraulic tip wagon. The limousine coach is most tastefully finished, the roof being lined, covered with linerusta walton, and decorated with a carved fan moulding in which are accommodated 14 inverted lights. The vehicle is divided into two, the front corn.' parttnent seating from 11 to 13 passengers, according to whether the•two additional seats aro used or not, whilst the rear compartment accommodates 12 passengers, 6 on each side of a removable, folding table. Four seats face from the rear towards this compartment. The vehicle is intended for theatre partias and for long-distance touring, and has been built for the British Ex-Officers' Travel Association. It is mounted on Michelin pneumatic yres (twin tyres at. the rear), and there is ample lighting and ventilation and accommodation for luggage, whilst, at every turn, there is evidence of comfort and wellbeing.

The 40-seater singte-deck bus has a central entrance (that is to say, approximately central on the near side) with an emergency door at the rear. It is divided into two compartments, 22 passengers being accommodated in the forward or fion-smaking compartment, and 18 in the rear or smoking compartment. There is ample ventilation, the. seats are wide and

• comfortable, the cushions being sprung and covered with leather, whilst the head room under the hoop sticks is not less than 6 ft. 4 ins. This is mounted on -the 401 or S type of chassis.

The 26-seater standard char-it-basics is a very comfortable type of vehicle, the passengers being seated' in double buckets arranged on the square traverse, not being staggered in any way. Below each seat is a. very large luggage locker, the door of which is hinged downwards and is checked so that it stands at an angle and, being padded outside, forms an 'admirable footrest for the• passengers an the seat to the rear.

The 4 ton hydraulic tip wagon has a new tipping gear, a single hydraulic ram at the front end of the body being actuated by a rotary gear pump in the oil container. This type of pump overcomes many troubles previously discovered, and is calculated to give every possible satisfaction:

The Associated Equipment Co. are showing in the gallery a number of their components, including K type. and S type engines, .silent chain gearboxes, giving three forward and one reverse speed, and a new spur gear, four-speed box with very wide gears and exceptionally large shafts. In addition, there are axle exhibits in two types, with underslung worm drive and overhead worm.
