flA BODY which is bound to command the attention of all those interested in motorbus operation is that which will be. shown on the stand of United Automobile Services, Ltd. This is an entirely new design of body, and af, the company have for many years past operated passenger road services in the East. Anglian aistricts, it is only to be expected that many of the details in the design will be the outcome of their experience in this direction. It may be said, in the first-place, that the main object has been to build a light body which is of sufficient capacity to deal with all but densely populated city areas, and it is calculated that the weight saved on the body and Chassis, as compared with the older type, is 25-50 cwt. The body is of the pay-as-you-enter type, that is to say, the driver also acts as the conductor, and naturally enough the only means of entrance is at, the near-side front end. The seating accommodation is arranged for 26 passengers, the seats being disposed 'in five rows of two on each side, with a central gangway, and a seat at the rear which accommodates five, the 26th passenger being provided for by a seat in the gangway of the fifth

The body is built up of English oak framing strengthened with flitch plates, which give the lightest construction compatible with rigidity. The important matter of ventilation has received adequate attention, and permanent louvres are arranged for over the windscreen, whilst an. extra air inlet is provided by the front and side windows. All the windows are bedded in rubber channels, and the top halves of the four side windows open, fold down and are secured over the lower halves on antirattle rollers. There is a eliding window by the side of the driver. Visitors to the Show should not fail to inspect this body, which incorporates many new ideas, and attention should 'be paid to the entrance, which is of a particularly safe type.
