, Stand No 94: N THE occasion of this years Show the Bristol' Aeroplane Co., Ltd., will take the opportunity of displaying, on Stand No. 94, an example of their high-class bodywork. In their extensive workshops at Filton this firm have for many years past been engaged in the design cineconslaasetion nf bodies for all types, of vehicles. • •

Thy will be showing-an omnibus body of their own design andaconstructioni the body being mounted on a 40 ti.p. Bristol chassis. This body provides accommoda. titan for 32 passengers in addition to the driver, its outstanding features being the exceptional comfort which is provided for passengers and the commendable system of ventilation.

The body is divided into two compartments, the riasr portion, which accommodates 10 passengers, being partitioned off to serve as a smoking compartment. The back supports of the seats are of spring steel suitably tempered and connected with slats, this method giving the greatest resilience. The upholstery is of high quality Rexine, a grey neutral tint being used in the omnibus to be exhibited.

So far as ventilation is concerned, at the top of the front partition, which separates the driver's seat from the-Main compartment, ventilators have been fitted to ensure a good current of air continually passing along the roof of the bus. Immediately under these ventilators are three windows, hinged on .their bottom sides, and provided with " budget locks, the key for which is in the possession of the conductor, so that when it is desired to increase the inlet of air these windows can be folded down.

As regards the main construction of the bus body, the framing, pillars, hoopsticks, and all other constructional parts are of carefully selected ash. The pillars and hoop-sticks are reinforced by steel plates throughout -their entire length, and by this means the maximum of rigidity is secured. The floor is of tongued and grooved timber well screwed to the framing, whilst trap doors, fitted with battens and liftoip bars, give access to the mechanical parts below. Down the central gangway and between the seats hardwood slats are provided, The roof is of tongued and grooved boards, and the whole is covered with canvas, which extends from the driver's seat, and forms the top support of the windscreen.
