ABARTLE bus body will he.shown mounted on the X-type Thornycroft chassis, and this is a vehicle which is admirably suited for public service work in provincial towns. The body seats 30 persons on five pairs of garden type seats facing forwards, accommodation lotseven personi being provided in a smoking compartment at the rear end of the body ; provision is also made for three persons beside the driver. Hinged ventilator lights are provided at the • front and rear, giving ample ventilation, but an extra inlet of air can be obtained by removing the side windows, which are

readily detachable. The domed roof, together with the rounded back corners, gives the vehicle a refined and attractive appearance.

Exhibit No. 2 is a standard petrol can lorry for Shell-Mex, Ltd., mounted on a 2 ton Leyland chassis, the vehicle being painted in the familiar colours of the company which market this well-known brand of motor spirit. The 20-seater motor coach body is

mounted on a B.T.-type Thornycroft chassis. It is of the latest design, with a bulbous scuttle with the side panels rounded over the elbow at the top, and carried across the back of each row of seats to form a deck. The windscreen is of special design, having the appearance of a straight.screen with side panels. The body is fitted with the company's patent hood fitting, which we had occasion to describe in these pages a short while ago. It may be remembered that each seat has its individual hood fitting, which folds neatly down at the back when cud, of use.

The twill is rolled up and carried in a suitable tray provided at the rear of ' the body.

The Bartle 5 ton " Dubleload " trailer is an all-steel ,vehicle designed to give the maximum of efficiency and strength. The chassis frame is of pressed steel channel, the underframe being pivoted on large diameter bearings. Shearing stresses are distributed over ample wheel plates. Single disc wheels on solid tyres are mounted on Skefko ball bearings, and large diameter Ferodo-lined motor-type brakes, which are compensated, are provided, these brakes being operated either from the prime mover or independently from the

railer itself. The springs are of chrome anadium steel, and the leaves are interchangeable between all sizes, and are lamped directly to the tubular axles. -he drawbar has volute 'springs to eli-, Mate shock from the underfrarne.

The angle iron body, which is fitted on another trailer to be shown, is finished in natural wood, varnished, with black ironwork, and is suitable for carrying barrels, petrol cans, etc. The body • dimensions are: 11 ft. long, 6 ft. 4i ins. wide, and 2 ft. 9 ins. deep.
