Doug Charlton, the retiring owner of Charlton Tipper Bodies, is in line for an early Christmas present following his decision to sell the business to MC Truck Engineering.
Charlton, which manufactures tipper bodies for all the major manufacturers, will be closing its office in Hayes, Middlesex on 10 December when the business will transfer to Hythe-based MC, including the company's goodwill and body press.
However, most of the staff are not part of the package. Only John Duncan, who is currently in charge of sales, is transferring to MC's operation, as business development manager.
Doug Charlton will still be involved with the business as a consultant to MC.
