NNER-DRIVERS in East iglia are facing bankruptcy cause a company to whom ey were sub-contracted is Ay to go into liquidation. The company, Wingrove Transport of King's Lynn, was acquired three weeks ago by a Felixstowe company, Anglo Norden Freight Ltd.

On Thursday a spokesman for Anglo Norden told CM that a petition was being filed to wind up Wingrove.

He said that an examination of the books, after Wingrove had been acquired, showed that "they (Wingrove) were in a terrible mess.'

N. Fulcher, managing director of Norden, said that when he acquired Wingrove, "I did not know there was no money there." Norden is one of Wingrove's creditors.

Ten other angry creditors met Mr Fulcher last week to be told that there was no money so they would not be paid. The debts are understood to run into thousands of pounds.

One man, Clifford Taylor of BLS Transport of Wigan had just returned from a Middle East trip to learn that the £2,225 owing to him would not be paid. He said he was totally dependent on the payment to finance his next trip.

Mr Fulcher was asked if he thought Norden should meet the Wingrove liabilities. He replied Norden could not because there was no cash in the Wingrove account.

When it was suggested that failure to meet the liabilities would mean bankruptcy for the sub contractors Mr Fulcher said: "That is how it will have to be."
