NEW measures to be introduced by Stockton
Corporation Transport to improve its transport system include a greater use of singledecker buses and changes in some bus services. Four one-man single-deckers are already in service and another six with a larger passenger capacity—Leyland Panthers with Park Royal bodies—will enter service early next year.
Bus services to be given revised frequencies include service 0 between Middlesbrough and Norton, operated jointly with Middlesbrough Corporation Transport, and services 4 and 5, which embrace the whole of the central area of Stockton. The revised schedules will lead to an annual reduction of 200,000 miles and save thousands of pounds.
