Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

INTERESTING possibilities are pre

sented by the development of a Bedford articulated outfit by Helicopter Services, Ltd., Gatwick, as a combined helicopter transporter and landing and take-off base.

The company operate four Agusta Bell 47 tight helicopters, the landing skids of which are as wide apart as the side rails of the Queen Mary semitrailer body. An Agusta Bell can thus alight on the semi-trailer, which can be taken to any convenient location, where a suitable landing site might not otherwise exist, and provide the necessary operational facilities.

A sliding carriage may be placed under the helicopter to support its weight on four jacks for transport purposes. A portable starter-battery unit is carried on the platform of the semitrailer, and a windsock may be flown from the roof of the cab.

A Standard Vanguard estate car with two-way radio equipment accompanies the articulated outfit. Money is saved by being able to carry the helicopter by • road to an operational area, as it is cheaper to cover a certain distance on the surface than fly the helicopter.
