and its application to road transport are to be introduced by the College of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering, 102 Sydney Street, London, S.W.3. Practical work, consisting of the dismantling, inspection and reassembly of various turbines, will be given, also lectures on .basic principles of construction and operation.

Mr.. G. D. Dugnid, principal of the College, said last week that there seemed to he a "definite future" for the gas' turbine for long-distance commercial vehicle's. Two annual scholarships in memory of the late Lord Wakefield, forme/. President Of the College, have been founded and will be maintained by C. C. Wakefield and Co., Ltd. These scholarships will be worth £300 and £150.a year respectively.

The former Will allow a student to train for associat&meanbership in automobile 'engineering 'of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and the latter to study to the standard of the examination in agricultural engineering of the City and Guilds of London Institute.

WINDSCREEN SPRAY FOLLOWS BLADE

riA NEW windscreen washer incorporatinv several unusual features has been introduced by London Bankside Products, Ltd., The Runway, South Ruislip, Middx. Known as the Sparto Screen-Spray automatic washer, it is brought into operation by the actuation of the wiper control. The spray lasts some 10-20 sec.

• The jet is directed to the edge of the wiper blade and moves with the blade. The device is electrically operated and can be used with any form of wiper mechanism.

The company have also produced a driving mirror claimed to give twice the field of vision obtainable from an ordinary round mirror of comparable size.
