Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AMONG the wide variety of exhibits in the equipment section of the Scottish Show there is to be found a vast amount of interest to all associated with commercial vehicles.

The range of electrical equipment and fuel-injection apparatus shown by C.A.V.-Bosch, Ltd., is comprehensive. Two types of fuel-injection pump—that which has its own driving camshaft, and that for use on engines on which the manufacturer provides the drive—are on view, together with nozzles, nozzle holders, fuel filters, and so forth. There are also shown axial-type electric starters, stationary-winding magnetos, compensated-voltage-control dynamos, new types of control boards, headlamps with Lucas-Graves anti-dazzle bulbs, spotlights and windscreen wipers—all British products made in the C.A.V.Bosch works in London.

Among the display of Smith accessories, items of main interest are the new speedometers of the type which will be compulsory on express carriages from January 1 next, the latest design of Smith coach clock, and a new fireextinguisher specially designed for public-service vehicles.

The latest Scintilla fuel-injection pump is an interesting exhibit on the stand of Messrs. D. B. Irvine, on which may also be examined another recently introduced Scintilla product—the Vertex magneto for converting from coil ignition.

The popular Simms electrical accessories displayed include a new rotatingmagnet magneto—specially built for heavy vehicles and on show for the first time—specimens of the concern's automatic-advance mechanism and impulse starters.

On the Exide stand are to be seen the new Double Life battery designed to give exceptionally long life, and numerous examples of the Exide concern's standard starting and lighting batteries. A comprehensive 'range of Pertrix starting and lighting batteries is exhibited on the stand of Britannia Batteries, Ltd., together with an array of complete equipment for battery service stations.

A new penetrating oil, shown for the first time, is a feature of the Wakefield exhibit; in addition, the full range of Castrol oils and greases is on view. Lubrication charts are being given away at this

stand. Demonttrations of the viscosity and behaviour of speed

well oils and Crimsangere lubricant are worthy of observation on the stand of the British Oil and Turpentine Corporation, Ltd. A pictorial chart shows the processes employed in the refining and m.anufacture of Quaker State oil on the stand of Ferguson, Shaw and Sons. Oils and greases, oil cabinets, gear-oil buckets and various types of oil pump are features of the Racier exhibit.

On the stand of Messrs. P. W. Murray is to be seen a Skyhi centrepost hydraulic lift, made by Henry Miller and Co. and capable of lifting 9 tons to a height of 4 ft. in a few seconds. This is shown working under actual eouditions, raising a Leyland Titan double-decker.

Many useful items of garage equipment, including certain new designs of valve refacers, decarbonizing kits, drills, electric car washers, an air and water tower, presses, etc., are shown by Accessories (Edinburgh), Ltd. Specimens of petrol pumps and the latest motor-driven meter pump are to be seen on the stand of Avery-Hardoll, Ltd.

Brown' Brothers, Ltd., and Thomson and Brown Brothers, Ltd., have three stands showing a comprehensive array of accessories, fittings, equipment for numerous purposes and tools. These important factors exhibit a large number of proprietary articles, including Rubbolite flexible lamps.

Dunlop tyres, wheels for cars and commercial vehicles, operating tools and parts are shown on one of this concern's stands, whilst on another Dunlop service-station and garage equipment is exhibited.

Specially interesting among the exhibits of the Glasgow and Paris Motor Co., Ltd., is a cutter-head, for use with a drilling machine, among the capabilities of which is the reboring of cylinders. On the two stands of Henry McGill and Co. are displayed numerous accessories, tools and examples of garage equipment. High -pressure vehicle washers are prominent on the stand of Messrs. Simkins Engineering Works. B.E.N. washing plants, Black and Decker tools, Tecalemit equipment, Weaver jacks, Wayne electric petrol pumps, Rubbolite flexible lamps and a wide range of proprietary accessories are among the display on Messrs. James Robertson's stand.

Demonstrations of the M.C.L. automatic controller which regulates the dynamo charging rate are being 'given on the stand of M.C.L. and Repetition, Ltd., where many examples of the concern's other electrical products and machined work are also on view. The latest developments in accessories, and an array of garage tools, replacement parts and repairing materials are exhibited by the North British Machine Co., Ltd. Timken roller bearings, BID. pistons, and Solex carburetters of the ' self-starting" type are specialjties among the exhibits of Edmunds, Walker and Co., Ltd. An array of Diatherm pistons is shown by Joseph Stubbs, Ltd.

Specimens of cellulose and oil finishes are displayed on the stand Of Thos. Parsons and Sons, Ltd. Examples of chromium plating and Masonite compressed-wood panelling are exhibited by Lawrie Bros., Ltd. Leather work and upholstery is the speciality displayed on the respective stands a Bridge of Weir Leather Co., Ltd., and Messrs. -John Cameron and Sons.

A wide selection of lubricating equipment, including electric and airoperated oil-guns, is on show on the Tecalemit stand, and, in addition, there are air compressors, lifts and washing plants. The Tecalemit brake tester is on view elsewhere.

The exhibit of Sheepbridge *Stokes Engine Liners, Ltd., consists mainly of Centricast and Nitricast iron cylinder Centrilock valve seats and tools. A full range of drop windows, for passenger vehicles, drivers' cabs, etc., is shown by Messrs. William Young, M.I.A.E.

The wide and interesting range of exhibits staged by the Laycock Engineering Co. includes the latest highpressure washing plants, a new 60-ton hydraulic press a new towing pole, a recently. introduced garage truck, a brake tester, a new elevator, air compressors, cylinder grinders and other tools and appliances.

The latest Avon-Seiberling giant pneumatics are prominent among the range of tyres and repair equipment on the Avon stand.

.Henley solid tyres, air-cushion tyres and giant pneumatics, including the new green stripe Super X tyre are to be seen on this concern's stand. Goodyear tyres are represented by several different types, among which is the new heavy duty tyre with a silent tread. A new popular-priced tyre—the Sterling—is an interesting item of ths India display.
