Do we need to have two Operators licences or can we amalgamate them? The operating centres are different. KW, Heathcliffe AThe short answer is "Yes" to the second part of your question. However, a number of points need to be taken into consideration. If you take the other company's vehicles on to your licence you will need to apply for a variation to your licence by the number of vehicles and trailers and to specify the other operating centre. You can then surrender the other licence.

You will have to have a CPC holder at the other centre unless drivers' instructions are issued by your company. You do not have to amalgamate but make sure you comply with the requirements of the Transport Act — whichever way you do it, you must ensure that the Licensing Authority is aware of the change of directors or you could find the licence revoked under Section 69 1E of the Transport Act 1968: "That there has been since the licence was granted or varied a material change in any of the circumstances of the holder of the licence which were relevant to the grant or variation of the licence".
