Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SIR

• I write to protest about a caption in your Turin Show Report in Commercial Motor 27 April-3 May issue.

There is a photograph of a Renault Trafic and the caption refers to its "Transit-like" profile. Surely this is hardly fair to Renault who came out with that distinctive shape well before Ford, which appeared later to be quite blatant in copying it for its Transit. D J Smith, Hinckley, Leics.

Renault may have been ahead of Ford, but the more prolific Transit exaggerated the angle of the wedge shape and now in turn Renault has modified the front of the Trafic.

• As a regular reader of Commercial Motor, I find it intriguing that you write of the vehicles going to Armenia as though this was something new.

My company has operated in the western and southern states of the USSR for nine years, loaded in both directions at all times. During the Soviet/ Polish problems, we still operated regularly to Vladimir, west of Moscow, without serious problems — apart from re-routeing for obvious reasons.

Truly, I respect the efforts and contributions of the companies in the relief convoy, but had the operators done their homework, they would have found relatively convenient cargo available without returning so many miles empty.

However, I congratulate them for sparing their machinery and staff for such a worthwhile cause.
