Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Aberdeen-based freight and haulage firm Glen Dee Service Company is going Dutch by taking a substantial stake in a Netherlands transport concern.

The firm has acquired a 49% stake of MF Development, based at Woudenberg near Utrecht, with branches at Zaandam near Amsterdam and at Celle in West Germany. The deal means MF, in turn, acquires 15% of Glen Dee.

The move is aimed at boosting Glen Dee's full-load Continental haulage business, which already accounts for around 50% of its transport activity. It also allows the company to build on MF's groupage service between Aberdeen and Holland and offer a threetimes-a-week link with the Continent.

Glen Dee is to inject cash into MF to help it expand. The Dutch company operates eight trucks and employs 14, compared with Glen Dee's 28strong workforce and fleet of 20 vehicles and trailers.

Glen Dee's director Peter Robertson believes the MF deal will give the Aberdeen firm a strong European base.
