FOR Tipcon chairman Roger Hobby, getting to the convention was as much of a strain as presiding over the business and social events. I le undertook the 100-mile journey from his East Midlands home to Harrogate by racing bicycle to raise over .1:2,1100 for CA4's Send-a-Spare appeal to keep famine relief lorries running in Ethiopia_
Until 1970, Mr Hobby was a competitive racing cyclist and was East Midlands champion for three successive years.
He arrived to a warns welcome from Harrogate's mayor, who praised the CM campaign as a practical contribution to meeting very real problems in the Third World.
