LAST WEEK'S Freight Show North at Harrogate was an outstanding success — despite the General Election and some highly unseasonable snow.
By the end of the second day, attendances of over 1,000 had come within a whisker of those for the longer established Brighton Freight Show, and many exhibitors reported brisk business on their stands.
Organiser Maclean-Hunter Ltd told CM that Harrogate has proved to be a more popular venue for freight operators than either Brighton or Rotterdam, the home of the equivalent European exhibition.
As reported last week, the accompanying conference had to be postponed, as delegates wanted to stay at home for last Thursday's General Election. But this did not prevent many companies, most of them from the North of England — from sending representatives to the Show.
