RED TO GREEN" PLAN

THEMinistry of Transport are tO experiment at Leicester with a plan to cut out the amber light ,after the red on road-traffic signals. It is hoped that this will prevent the tendency for drivers to move off on the amber light in anticipation of the green signal.

For the opposing traffic moving on the green light there will be amber to enable it to proceed if it has started to cross, and, at the same time, to warn following traffic that the red is coming.

It will be some time before the scheme goes into operation.
