late Grant of £233,092

If the applications for both motorbus and trolleybus fares were granted, said the city treasurer, Mr. E. W. The application was refused. New proposals—it is believed that they will he based on a sliding scale—were to have been presented by the Western Authority yesterday.

The company had proposed to increase certain fares by Id. and. Id. and to reduce a smaller number by the same amounts. The present Id. fare would have been retained for journeys of up to 0.7 mile. The proposals were supported by Cheltenham Corporation, which, it was stated, found them reasonable, Red and White. Increases

Presiding over a hearing of the South Wales Licensing Authority on April 27, Sir Arnold Musto granted Red and White Services, Ltd., the blanket application first heard in February of this year. The new rates were put into effect last Sunday, and include increases of Id. on fares up to 5d„ of Id. between 54d. and lid., of 2d. between is. ld. and Is. lid, and so on, giving a maximum increase of 6d. Return fares are correspondingly affected. Giving his decision, the Authority said that anomalies should be removed from the fares structure by the time the road service licences come up for review in 1952.
