Sit is 'delighted' with government's thumbs-up

SKILLS FOR LOGISTICS (SfL) chief executive Dr Mick Jackson (pictured) reveals that the organisation can now go forward with more certainty after successfully retaining its Sector Skills Council (SSC) licence. Officially granting the licence, business secretary Lord Mandelson states "The renewal of this licence gives confidence to the government that this SSC is truly backed by its industry, has the support of employers, and is properly equipped to identify the skills needs of its sector."

Jackson continues: "We are obviously delighted by this major vote of confidence in our work from the government.

"It is crucial that we have a well-trained and efficient workforce that is fit for the purpose of delivering goods in the widest possible sense."

Jackson adds: "We intend to continue the good work that has resulted in the renewal of our licence."

The renewal of the SSC licence is for an indeterminate period, but is likely to be reviewed again in three to five years.
