Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A WREXHAM-BASED truck driver could be facing a jail sentence over repeated tacho offences after his case was transferred to Crown Court for sentencing.

Alan Morris, of Brymbo, pleaded guilty to 22 offences of falsification and asked for another 39 to be taken into account at Wrexham Magistrates Court. Prosecuting for VOSA. David James said the offences were discovered when tachograph record sheets were analysed by traffic examiners. They covered work Morris had undertaken for his employers. Cityday. trading as Brake Engineering, from January 2002 until March 2003.

The offences came to light after a traffic examiner decided that Morris could not have completed his journeys from Wrexham to the West Midlands orYorkshire in the time indicated on the charts.

In the majority of cases either the start point or the finish point entered on the centre field of the tachograph charts was false. For example, on 15 January 2002 Mor ris had entered the finish point 2 Wolverharnpton when in fact was Wrexham.

An obvious motive for makin entries to indicate that the joume ended at a place other than at driver's base was to deceive th employer and obtain subsistenc money to which the driver was nc entitled, the court was told.
