be lifted on to and off vehicles with normal platform heights, and at the point found most convenient, Power Jacks, Ltd., Valetta Road, London, W.3, has introduced the Newton Hydratruck Apart from its primary purpose of lifting and lowering packages within a height range of 7 ins. to 4 ft, 8 ins,, it can be used as a manually operated works truck.
The loading platform is connected to the elevating gear by a form of linkage which holds the platform level at all points in the lift. When required, the platform can be tilted to the extent of 6 degrees down or 3 degrees up, there being an independent control for effecting this movement.
Lifting is performed by a hydraulic ram. the pressure behind which is produced manually through the agency of s pump having a long extension handle. The length of this handle greatly reduces the effort required to raise the 10-cwt. load, which represents the maximum for which this model has been designed.
This load can be raised to the maximum height in less than 60 sees. The limit of upward travel can be "felt" on the pump handle, which will be found to resist further efforts to move it. A relief valve controls the downward Movement of the. platform, which can be held at any position desired.
The wheels and castors are mounted on roller bearings. In the form of a works truck, it can be used for picking up stiilages, and it can be employed for stacking.
The truck can beheld against move ment fabric-faced disc brakes operating on the front wheels, These brakes can, of course, be used for normal braking purposes when the truck is being manceovred.
With an overall length of 4 ft. 3 ins., the Hydfatruck has a width of only 2-ft.
