Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Joanne Bourke THE HOME OFFICE has reinstated funding for freight crime fighting unit TruckPol until at least March 2010, finally calming industry fears that the division could have been left with nothing.

However, doubts remain over the level of stakeholder funding due to the recession.

Acting detective chief inspector Mark Hooper at ThickPol's parent Association of Chief Police Officers' Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (AVCIS) confirms TruckPol has been pledged £50,000 of government funding.

Hooper says this is the same amount it received last year and it's hoped stakeholders will match the £50.000.

However. as CM went to press, it was unclear how much parent group AVCIS will receive; last year the grant was £400.000. The announcement follows uncertainty about TruckPol's future after the government said in October 2008 it would axe funding and resulting in TruckPol not receiving any cash since March.

However, stakeholder Viper Guard, the truck security product group, tells CM it is not sure if it will sponsor the division this year.

General manager Debbie Jones says: "It's good it has at least got something, but I don't think it is enough. In this difficult economic climate, it may be more difficult for stakeholders to match funding and this could be a problem."
