Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The service times submitted to you for your roadtest of the Iveco Ford New Cargo 75E14 were incorrect (CM 7-14 May). Based on a distance of 80,000km covered annually using long-drain oils, New Cargo requires a total of 9.9 hours chargeable servicing. In addition, a free-of-charge 'Quality of Ownership' inspection, taking 4,7 hours is offered by us after 12 months of ownership. In subsequent years the downtime remains at 9.9 hours per annum. The correct comparison figure for New Cargo servicing times is a total of 9.9 hours. Servicing is undertaken at 20,000/50.000J 80,000km during the period.

We also believe, on close examination of other manufacturers' comparative aftersales data published, that there may be other discrepancies on service times and parts prices. This is a subject that we should all examine carefully to ensure that such statistics are always comparable. Nigel Emms

External relations manager, Iveco Ford Truck, Watford. Herts.
