Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

tractive unit stolen from Lloyds of Ludlow on 24 January (CM Crimeline 20-26 February) has turned up,

unscathed, in Manchester.

Director Tony Lloyd says the vehicle was parked in a truckstop in the city: "The thief parked it up, told the truckstop manageress that he would pay for one night's parking and settle up for the rest when he returned in a couple of days — but that was the last she saw of him.

"After a few days she became suspicious and rang the police," says Lloyd. They checked it out and got in touch with us."

The truck had been used for at least two journeys to Turkey or Greece, he adds: "The thief had painted our name out but it was still identifiably our truck. He also put C-reg plates on but any lorry driver would have known that Scania 113s were not made until F-reg came out." By coincidence Lloyds' insurance representative was in its office, with a cheque in his hand for the vehicle, when the call from Manchester CID came through.

eagron-Raymoore Cranes of Thames Road, Barking, Essex, reports the theft of a Scania 82M in the early hours of Sunday 31 May. The vehicle has a red body on a white cab with a beaver tail. Red lettering on the cab spells out the name, Neagron. It is mounted by a Hiab 140 crane and winch. Registration number is B34 YUX, chassis number 4240919, engine number 4006083.

According to director, Boyd Hamilton, the vehicle had a complete security system which was bypassed before being driven away.
