Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Rubery Owen-Rockwell's line-up at the TankCon exhibition next week will include its latest Flexair flexible-link air suspension.

Flexair has a capacity of 11,000kg and is recommended for frame centres of 970nun (twin) and 1,200mm (singlewheel). It is based on the existing Weweller air suspension system that RO-R markets in the UK and uses a simple trailing arm with a Pirelli air bellows.

Part of the system is a twoleaf spring arrangement which comprises two linked leaves of different lengths and thicknesses which are claimed to offer good ride characteristics while minimising the bending and torsional stresses that are transmitted to the bushes and axle beam. The springs are shot-peened and given a protective coating prior to assembly.

Ride heights between 226 and 425mm can be specified; in the latter case and with 980min centres the assembly weighs 226kg. Piston-type air springs are used, with a bushed pivot and bolt assembly designed to cope with stresses often generated during truck operations.

RO-R has been selling the Flexair range in the Netherlands for the past 18 months and launched it in France at the end of last year.
