magazine distributors is this week fighting for its life after being put into administration.
The 180 employees of the Mortimer Group are watching the attempts of joint administrators Ron Robinson and Rick Traynor, of insolvency practitioners Ruchler Phillips Traynor, to keep the company trading. The Mortimer Group, which operates 110 vehicles from Four sites, could be sold as a going concern or the administrators could ask creditors to agree to applying for a company voluntary arrangement. The group has a turnover of El 2m and has customers including Reed Business Publishing, which publishes Commercial Motor.
The group's holding company, D Mortimer's Management Services, includes D Mortimer's Transport Services, D Mortimer's MAG Speed, D Mortimer's Distribution, D Mortimer's Print Services and D Mortimer's Commercial Vehicles Services.
Dennis Mortimer started his transport and haulage business in 1964 and the group was formed in 1982.
