C. P. Windsor-Smith, chief engineer of Daimler Transport Vehicles Ltd., has been appointed executive engineer (engines) in British Leyland's new central engineering department of the truck and bus division. He will continue to have overall responsibility for the activities of Daimler's engineering department and will, therefore, divide his time between Leyland. Lancs.—the location for the new engineering centre—and Daimler, Coventry. During most of his career. Mr. Windsor-Smith has specialized in engine design and development. He spent seven years with Ricardo and Company, and then, after four years as diesel engine development engineer with Daimler, moved to Coventry Climax Engines Ltd. as chief engine designer, where he stayed 11 years. Subsequent to the merger of Coventry Climax with Jaguar in 1963, he returned to Daimler as chief engineer upon the retirement of Daimler's chief engineer. C. M. Simpson.
A. Craig Macdonald, general manager of Albion Motors Ltd. from 1961 to 1968, and chairman of British Leyland's Scottish manufacturing plants for the past year, has retired at the age of 65. With his retirement. R. C. Dougal and R. J. Smart, general managers respectively of Albion Motors Ltd., Glasgow, and Leyland Motors (Scotland) Ltd., Bathgate, have assumed chief executive responsibility at plant level. Mr. Macdonald joined Albion in 1926 and held many senior posts in the company before becoming general manager in 1961.
The Hon. R. H. Bonham Carter has been appointed a director of Transport Development Group Ltd.
Brian Shepherd has been appointed marketing director of British Leyland's truck and bus division: Bernard Pickup, home sales director; George Francis, special products sales director. John Jackson, export sales manager. This reorganization follows the recent transfer to the overseas division of Trevor Webster as deputy managing director, and Louis Portman as marketing director—trucks and buses. A. W. of ERF Ltd. Mr Green becomes deputy managing
director of ERF Ltd. and joins the board of ERF Engineering Ltd.
M. Stevenson has been appointed a director of Prices's (Earl Shiltonl Ltd.. Leicester, distributor for Atkinson. Seddon and York. A. Ellis has joined the company as general manager, having formerly been with York Trailer Co.
