PLANS of a new Leyland-D.A.B. 80passenger articulated bus which is being built in Denmark for the Danish State Railways, show that the vehicle will be 54 ft. 10 ins, long and will have seats for 56 people.
The Leyland tractor unit, of 12-ft. 6-in, wheelbase, will have a 130 b.h.p. oil engine and five-forward-speed gearbox, in which positive lubrication to the mainshaft bearings is provided. Vacuum servo brakes, hydraulically operated, will be fitted. The semi-trailer, built by Dansk Paahaengsvognsfabric, has twin rear axles and the frame is stepped. Bodywork will be by Dansk Autontobil Byggeri, Danish agent for Leyland Motors, Ltd., and designer of the vehicle.
Behind the cab there will be a fullwidth compartment for luggage. Standing passengers will be accommodated on a platform at the rear of the semitrailer. The main compartment will be
entered through central sliding doors, A raised compartment with 17 seats, and separated from the main saloon by a partition, will be situated at the front.
