• Last year was the strongest in more than a decade for CV registrations, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Total registrations in 2000, for everything from car-derived vans to trucks, were up 9,943 on 1999 at 298,043-the highest since 1989.
Truck and artic registrations showed a year-on-year increase of 2,389 to 54,180, the bulk of them from Scania and Dar, while registrations of vans between 1.8 and 3.5 tonnes improved from 143,027 in 1999 to 152,935 in 2000.
