Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• "1996 will be a tough year with the total market above 17 tonnes GVVV down to around 30,000 from 32,000 in 1995/' says Charles Rabbidge, director of sales and marketing at Scania Trucks (GB).

However, while speaking in London last week, Rabbiclge also predicted that Scania would be "major league winners", despite the fact the new 4-Series models will not be available in quantity until the autumn.

Scania Trucks (GB) has already moved away from its plans to import 25 4-Series tractive units a month. Demand in other markets means the company will only be able to supply confirmed orders for the model until right-hand drive supplies arrive in quantity later in the year. There will be no 4-Series advertising for the time being.

Scania sold 5,400 trucks in the UK in 1995, giving it a 16.6% share of the market over 17 tonnes GVVV. The company has also increased the number of its service outlets to 64—o 45% increase in two years.

J Scania has formed a company to handle its contract hire business. Scania Vehicle Management will take over the business of Scenic' Contracts and will not affect existing contract hire customers.

The company already has 3,000 items of equipment on contract and will operate 200 vehicles from four sites in Scotland, Yorkshire, London and the West Country. Scania says that it will continue to supply vehicles to other contract hire companies.
