• Five new Optare Deltas enter service with Yorkshire Rider this month as part of an evaluation exercise for Guided Bus Plans.
The 47-seat Deltas are intended to promote an upmarket image; they have additional electronic destination equipment, new seats and Disabled Passenger Transport Advisory Committee features to suit elderly and disabled passengers.
Rider's plans for guided busways in Leeds are still being considered by the local highway authority, and the company hopes that its choice of vehicle might encourage a favourable result.
