• A new home delivery and furniture division has been set up by Ryder Distribution Services, offering distribution for retailers and manufacturers. It will look after delivery contracts with Christie-Tyler, House of Fraser and Premier Upholstery.
John Ball has moved over from his position as divisional distribution manager for beverages to become director of the Slough-based division. He is joined by David Bermingham, who has moved from Hays Specialist Distribution, to become divisional business development manager, based at new offices in Birmingham.
By the end of 1990 the division, which employs 200, plans to double its new business revenue to £12 million, and to have over 300 vehicles. "The 26 million of new business brought in during 1989 is a major rationale in developing this specialised division with dedicated management," says Ball.
