III British-built vehicles took an increased share of the 1.8-tonne CV sector last year. Ford's Fiesta and Escort-based CDVs combined with the P100 pickup to take 32.5% of the market; up slightly on 1988.
General Motors took second place with its Rascal, Astra and Midi range (28.48%, with 34,029 registrations). In third place came the Rover Group, which saw a very slight decrease in market share to 16.54%.
Renault, Peugeot and Citreon all recorded a drop in light commercial registrations last year, but held onto their fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively. Seventh-placed Fiat saw the strongest growth last year; up 85.2% to 2,946 vehicles.
