• The Midlands pay round looks like being settled in what. the Transport and General Workers Union calls a "UK benchmark recognising the professionalism of lorry drivers".

Some 10,000 Midlands truck drivers are affected by the deal which if accepted will push wages up by 8.5% (£10411 a week). Subsistence payments will increase from k13.65 to £14.80, with commensurate rises in sickness, accident and insurance payments. Employees with eight years' service will also qualify for an extra three days' holiday.
