Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• More and more hauliers are rallying behind the call to support the fuel duty lobby of Parliament on 24 February, says campaign group Trans-Action (see Comment, page 6).

Leading Trans-Action member Frank Stears and Shropshire-based campaigner Jim Jordan have been heartened by the support offered by hauliers who are beginning to discuss the events and ramifications of the big day with a growing interest.

"Coaches and coaches are being filled," says Jordan. "People are realising that this is make or break."

Stears reports that ERF has corn mitted itself to the Trans-Action cause. "They are even offering us use of their advertising department," he says. "The news has left me in cloud cuckoo land."

But he remains "deeply disappointed" that he has received no reply to the letter he wrote to Eddie Stobart asking fortis support on the d4 and has sent Stobart another letter.

Some hauliers are unhappy that the lobby clashes with the Freight Transport Association conference.
