An Essex driver is pretesting his innocence after being arrested last month by French police in Folkestone on charges of smuggling Indian illegal immigrants into the UK Joanne East,
girlfriend of jailed tee Baker, says he is 'bemused and shocked'' in his Paris jail and has even had visits from the prison's psychiatrist.
East says Baker was arrested on 25 January after French police told him they had a warrant for his arrest. He was taken to Paris by Eurostar.
A Frenchman had asked Baker to smuggle illegal immigrants into the UK, says East.
"Lee had a row with this man and drove off." she adds. "However. I have heard since that French police were keeping this Frenchman wider surveillance.''
