• Harris Distribution, part of the Transport Development Group, is investing 23 million in a dedicated retail distribution plant to move all Pedigree Petfoods products in the North.
The company, which already handles Pedigree's distribution in the South, plans to open the complex at Trafford Park, Manchester, in October. The petfoods will be moved to the plant from Pedigree's factory in Melton Mowbray by train. Harris will then distribute to retail outlets in the North.
Both companies are unwilling to say how much the contract is worth, nor will they say how long it will last.
