Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SHELVOKE DEMPSTER is the new name of the Letchworthbased Butterfield-Harvey subsidiary which as Shelvoke and Drewry was well known mainly as a manufacturer of municipal vehicles.

The new company was formed on January 1 this year.

Butterfield-Harvey has reached trading and manufacturing agreements with the American corporation Technology Incorporated, which provided the British group with £2m capital injection through a secured loan convertible into Butterfield-Harvey ordinary shares.

Under the agreement Dempster Systems, a Technology Inc subsidiary, will be providing Shelvoke Dempster with new products, and the first of these, the Routechief intermittent rear loader is now being manufactured at Letchworth.

Shelvoke Dempster will also be distributing the Americanmanufactured Routeking II rear loader, Dumpmaster front loader, Dinosaur and Dragon Ill roll-on and off systems and Dempster Dumpster products. The established S and D solid waste equipment such as the Revopak and its special-purpose vehicles will continue to be manufactured at the Letchworth plant where the workforce now numbers 350.

John Vickers, who has previously held senior managerial positions at Sperry Vickers, Chrysler and Ford, has been appointed director and chief executive of Shelvoke Dempster. "The UK municipal waste market is due for a revival in 1984," he said, adding that he believes the Dempster range and expertise will "go a long way towards expanding our market share in Europe and elsewhere."
