ki, BR BRITISH Rail wants the profit making Freightliners handed back — but it has made no reference to troubled National Carriers Ltd.
In a memo to a House of Commons Select Committee, British Rail said that expectations of integration, based on the Freightliners operation, have not been realised.
"It was unwise to have expected that Freightliners, rail-based and contributing only 10 per cent of NFC's turnover, would have been given full rein for the development in such a road oriented organisation," says BR.
