Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

to 10 tonnes gross; because I have been driving a vehicle over 7.5 tonnes gross but less than 3 tons unladen for some time. I now want to extend the driving of this vehicle to Continental work, but I have been told that, because I am only 20 years of age. I am unable to drive it outside the United Kingdom. Is this so?

AAsyou are aware, the Road Traffic (Drivers Ages and Hours of Work) Act 1976 which came into operation on April 16, last year, brought the EEC driving licence requirements into the United Kingdom. Under this Act, the driving of vehicles over 7.5 tonnes gross was restricted to drivers of 21 years of age and over as was aiready toe case in otner EEC inerrmer countries.

However, a special concession was made for drivers in this country who had been used to driving these venicies for some time if they had not yet reached the prescribed age. This was to prevent such drivers being denied continuation of tneir normal Job.

This concession, obviously, does not apply outside the UK, and the DTp has confirmed that only if a driver under 21 is registered under the young driver training scheme can he drove a vehicle over 7.5 tonnes legally on the Continent.
