THE NATIONAL Freight Consortium Property Group, set up to manage the NFC property on a commercial basis, under the managing directorship of Jack Mather, has appointed Ron Emery as director of estates. That department is responsible for providing day-to-day estate management and professional services to the Group, to operating companies and to third parties.

Alan Butterfield becomes director of property disposals. He will be responsible for the sale of non-operational properties and the management of the NFC Pension Funds property assets.

Henry Lafferty has become finance director, while a vacancy for property development director still exists.

The board will be expanded by appointing various part-time directors from a cross-section of the property industry. Sir Robert Lawrence, immediate past chairman of NFC, has accepted the position of chairman of the Property Group. Mr Butterfield came to the NFC in 1968 as surveyor (South East) and in 1970 was appointed chief surveyor, his last position before becoming disposals director.

Mr Lafferty became the investment manager of NFC in 1980, before joining the Property Group upon its inception in October 1982.
