BRITISH RAIL London Midland region has introduced a new streamlined organisation to run its £130m annual freight business more effectively and generate extra traffic. A third of the staff have gone.
Willie Ferguson is responsible for dealing with the metal and motor vehicle industries and is based in Birmingham.
Geoffrey Clarke is the regional manager for the construction and cement industries and is based at Manchester.
Bob Goundry is regional manager for petroleum and chemical products and will be based at Liverpool.
Responsible for the large amounts of coal traffic that BR handles in the Nottingham region is Ray Pattison.
Tom Higgins is the wagon load manager based at the Euston headquarters. He is responsible for domestic and industrial coal traffic and other industrial wagon traffic in the area.
