Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A detachable swan-neck range of lowloaders designated the Contractor has been introduced by Overland Contracts (Trailers) Ltd, of Leigh, Lancs. Five models with gross trailer weights of from 27.5 tons up to 69 tons designed for payloads of between 20 and 50 tons are included in the range.

Detachment of the swan neck is achieved by jacking the bed frame with a pair of standard hydraulic vehicle-jacks and when the securing pins are released the towing vehicle is moved away carrying the swan neck assembly with it. To ensure easy and accurate recoupling, tapered tongues are inserted into box sections contained in the two inner longitudinal main frames. Guide plates are arranged at the outer sides of each box to centralize the assembly on coupling. A pair of solid-beam axles carrying 10-stud hubs and twin formation wheel and tyre equipment are mounted on a two-spring walking-beam suspension and located by radius rods to the chassis.

The company has applied for patents on the detachable swan-neck design and it can offer an optional built-in jacking system for raising and lowering the trailer bed.

• For economic reasons Cravens Hotnalloy (Sheffield) Ltd, has dropped its plan for building a 150.000 sq ft factory at Bishop Auckland.
