• Intended initially for applications to larger buses and lorries, the prototype of a gas turbine developing 300 bhp has been produced by the Nissan Motor Co Ltd, Nissan Building, Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan, as the outcome of seven years of research. It is of the closed-cycle type with variable nozzles and is claimed to reduce atmosphere pollution because of its "near-perfect" efficiency.
Speeds of the compressor and power turbine are 40,000 rpm and 30,000 rpm respectively. The heat exchanger is of the rotary-disc type and electronic controls are employed.
