Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW 21-tonnir, employing a supercharged version of the 2.8litre oil engine fitted in the 11-ton and 2-ton. models, has been added to the flanomag range. It has the same wheelbase as the 2-ton chassis and employs common mechanical components, but 6.50-20-in. tyres are fitted to accommodate the additional load.

The 2.8-litre four-stroke indirectinjection oil engine with normal aspiration delivers 50 b.h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m., but in supercharged form the output is increased to 65 b.h.p. at the same governed speed. It is claimed that the new unit is 5 per cent. better in mechanical efficiency and weighs only 65 lb. more than the unsupercharged version. The low-speed torque is improved, about 140 lb.-ft. being developed at 1,200 r.p.m., against 108 lb.-ft. at 1,600 r.p.m. for the normal engine.

The supercharger is a Roots unit with a large oil-bath air cleaner and carries a through drive to the dynamo at the rear. A large-bore induction manifold is fitted and the exhaust manifold is upswept and enlarged in section.
