A Labour Member for the cotton district, Mr. Guy Rowson (Farnworth), during question time in the House of Commons, recently, asked the Minister of Transport whether he was aware of the dissatisfaction prevailing in Lancashire and Cheshire among coach proprietors and their patrons regarding the curtailing and prohibiting of certain tours to the south and west coasts by the SouthEastern Traffic Commissioners. The Minister. replied that his appellate jurisdiction was being invoked.

It is understood that municipal publicity departments at Hastings and St. Leonardo, Weston-super-Mare and other resorts are investigating the possible effects of the loss of fantail tours business upon the towns' trade.

COUNCILS COMBINE IN MODERNIZATION.

GRIMSBY Corporation has replaced trams by trolleybuses on the Victoria Street-Cleethorpes Road route. Cleethorpes Council is applying for a Provisional Order t6 operate trolleybuses in place of trams, and, when permission is secured, there will be through running tetween Grimsby and Cleethorpes by the trolleybuses Of both authorities.
