VITAL PET PRODUCTS says its 10 new Montracon aerodynamic double-deck trailers are 8.3% more fuel eficient than its regular double-deckers on its leet.
Logistics director Nigel Caseley says the pillarless straight-frame trailers have been matched aerodynamically to the Exeter company’s leet of MAN TGX tractors and all feature a number of additional drag-reducing aerodynamic aids.
An air dam and front canted roof both help to promote rearward air low, while at the rear, the roof slopes downwards between the cant rails to a line of vortex generators that channel the low into the base drag area immediately behind the rear trailer doors.
Side skirts direct air along the side of the trailer into the base drag area.
