Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Mercedes has launched the revised SK heavy truck cab in the UK. The cab was first seen at the RAI Show in Amsterdam (CM 17-23 Feb) and has new grille, badging, underbumper spoiler and corner air deflectors.

There is also a smaller diameter (450mm) steering wheel and new fabric trim. The full-width G cab gains a standard electrically adjusted driver's door mirror.

The face-lifted cabs will be fitted with new diagnostic systems as standard. All tractive units of 270hp and above will benefit, as will the 2527 and 3234 multiwheelers and the 1820 17tonne rigid.

The diagnos tic system monitors the on-board electronics systems and will alert the driver to any malfunction. Temporary faults are stored in the system memory for later analysis. Faults are given a number on the dashboard display according to their importance. Codes beginning with zero are minor faults; those prefixed 2 are safety items requiring immediate attention.

Monitored functions include anti-lock brakes and anti-skid control, the EPS gearbox control electronics and the road speed limiter.

Mercedes expects to launch a flexible servicing system later this year, based on the diagnostic system. Rigid service intervals will be replaced by new schedules based on vehicle operations. Only vehicles with the diagnostics will be able to take advantage of the system.
