The move, says transport manager Mike Hayward, "has simplified body swapping to a quick and easy method using pneumatics.
"We've over 80 demount boxvan, curtained and flat swaps to be distributed to five factories and our previous straight-lift, electro/hydraulic systems were costly extras, too expensive to maintain." Anglian Windows has twu sleeper-cabbed 320hp (238kW) I'LlOs with Geartronic transmissions in service already and two more are on order.
The front axle has been moved back 60mm to accommodate front suspension air bags. reducing the original wheelbases to 5.14m.
Other changes include fitting extra air tanks and the re-siting of batteries and fuel tank.
Although the new chassis are slightly heavier, the switch has gained Anglian more than 500kg in carrying capacity.
