• The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre (DVLC) at . Swansea has streamlined its operations and is performing better than ever, according to Roads and Traffic Minister, Po ter Bottomley.
Bottornley told MPs that th DVLC's performance record between 1984-85 and 1987-88 shows an 11.5% growth in the volume of business handled, with an 8.5% reduction in staf a 10% reduction in unit costs per transactions (21.49 to 21.34); an improved turnrount time for work, reduced from 10 days for both drivers and vehicles transactions received to six days for drivers and eight days for vehicles.
Vehicle excise duty enforcement was improved, giving a 22% increase in the number of effectively completed cases against evaders.
