ELEVEN new Mercedes-Benz L608D 6.5-tonne frozen food delivery vehicles commissioned by Spring Valley Foods, are said to have an extremely efficient temperature pull-down performance.
Each vehicle operates at the unusually low temperature of minus 25 degrees C.
The vehicles operate a multidrop delivery service with up to 40 door openings per journey. The Carrier Bora 350 fridge equipment rated at 1,250 kilocal/hr (496btu/hr) is high in relation to the 17.85cum (630cuft) body size. Considered as important as the thermal rating is the rate of air flow at 57cum (2010cuft) per hour achieved by the unit's turbine fan.
An additional three-phase alternator fitted to the 0M314 provides the electric power for unit. Overnight it may be plugged into a 45-volt mains supply.
